Spent the last four months in Los Barriles & La Ventana, B.C.S.
Mexico. Lots of amazing days full of kiting and hanging out with good
friends both new and old. For more info you can check out a blog I made of
the trip here.

What an amazing winter it has been here
in Idaho. Why so amazing? well it's not because of the snow conditions. But
the winds have been fairly consistent and its been dream session after dream
session. (knocking on wood) We have been riding and shooting video almost
everyday. I'm really liking the Wainman Hawaii rabbit kites for gliding off
mountains. I was skeptical at first since they're so grunty, But wow the
stability and the smooth power thru kiteloops is unbelievable.
So we're gearing up for the 2011 Best Superfly Open in 10 days, Looking
forward to riding with the great snowkiting family we have in the U.S.
Check out the latest video from Tronolone Productions!
"Wainman Hawaii team riders Matt Thames

and Matt coming in 1st - NICE! Filmed by Buster Tronolone and edited by
Shanti Berg - enjoy!"

Introducing "ALL & ALL IS ALL WE ARE", a
short film by Buster Tronolone Jr. Starring Alex Peterson and I. We took a
trip to Central Oregon and even thought we had great snow conditions the
wind just never picked up as predicted. We will be filming thru-out the snow
kite season so stay tuned.

"Big Up" to photographer Isaiah Downing. Isaiah's top notch
camera skillz landed a shot in Kiteboarding Magazine. This Shot comes
from the camas prairie in Idaho, on a private ranchers property. We
had a tough time getting the angle right with the wind direction vs.
the rocky cliff. But it all turned out good and this shot was worth it!

First, I'd like to give a shout out to my new sponsors, Wainman Hawaii
and Kitesurf North America. I'm stoked to get in with the rabbit gang. Everyone I've met from Wainman Hawaii is super chill, I am really happy with
the quality of the kites.
This winter is going to be off the hook!, We will be on the road
traveling to the best snowkite events in the US. The Wainman Hawaii U.S.
snowkite tour will be underway shortly. be sure to stop by everyday for the
latest news and pics from the tour.
Summer time in the gorge, what an amazing place. This year was no
exception with big winds, big events and even bigger party's. My only
complaint is that it went by way to fast! I already miss the good times with
great friends.
I'd like to give a
shout out to Spring and Carlos, at
Kite The Gorge Kite boarding school. I had the pleasure of working for
Spring & Carlos and it is always amazing to be apart of the stoke when
students get there first rides. It brings back a lot of memories from those
first days.
Here is a few pics from the debauchery of this summer.

Back in the Gorge after an amazing snowkite trip. The conditions lined up
and we had some good days for filming. Idaho had a warm winter and the
snowpack was minimal. Which was good for jibing off rocks and mowing the
sagebrush. But by the time we left my board suffered a split nose and a
broken rail on the heel edge. Its all good fun!
Stoked to win the Aboards 2010 photo contest! This could not have been
at more perfect time. The picture they picked is from 2007 at Mt.Ashland,
Rider is good friend Jason Jermain.
Matt Thames is a kiteboarder from
Oregon who has been riding for a number of years. He came into kite
boarding with 10 years of snow boarding experience. Matt says he uses his
snow boarding background everyday to express a smooth, yet powerful style
while kite snow boarding. Congratulations to Matt Thames, and we look
forward to seeing more pictures of him ripping on his new Aboards Snow
board!"

I
am pleased to announce the alliance with Mystic Kiteboarding. I've
had a "Warrior" harness for a few years and absolutely love it. I have
always been stoked on Mystic and there products.
Time
to get things ready for Project Blizzard. The latest snowkite movie being
filmed this year. Slawek Krauze is an exceptional videographer and I
am stoked to help with the film shoot. Idaho is one my favorite places to
snowkite and being there over a month filming and riding sounds better than
a trip to disneyland.

Spending a whole month in
La Ventana (Baja Mexico) has been surreal. We arrived in La Paz to rain
showers and no wind. After nearly getting into numerous car accidents and
narrowly escaping wal-mart we eventually made it to the small fishing
village of La Ventana. I was very anxious to get out and kite. The next day
was very light wind and cloudy, I still made it work for my 14m Epic
Screamer and enjoyed my first session of the trip. After my attempts of
going upwind remained futile, I made a grave mistake and came into the beach
near the reef and sliced the heel of my foot pretty bad.
The next three weeks was absolutely amazing with consistent wind and
sunshine. I super glued my foot back together and kept charging it out on
the water. On an up-winder with Janet I ran into my old amigo and team
rider for Wainman Hawaii, John Bonetti. He is always a fun person to ride
with and we push each other to new limits. Janet and I met up with the rest
of Wainman Hawaii crew and we partied in pure Mexican style. Chris from Kite
Naked even managed to get the full sized suburban rental stuck to the frame
in a mixture of mud, sand and salt. After much distress and humiliation some
locals came and pulled out the suburban in about five minutes….Plus a
$100.00 fee
The kite expo (La Ventana Classic) was a blast and even though the wind was
not cooperating 100% the mood was Irie, and everyone was having fun. After
the event the wind picked back up and we got some nice days with mellow
crowds. I would have to say this was the part of the trip that was the most
progressive for me. I pushed myself pretty hard and feel like I made some
stellar achievements.
So for now it is back to the cold northwest and hopefully we have
some fresh snow I can’t wait for another kite trip into the warmth and sun
of Mexico.

The Kiteboard for cancer "KB4C" event was super fun! I love the fact that
we as kiters can get together and raise awarness and funds for cancer
research. The event had an endurance race, and a slider comp., As well as a
S.U.P. race.

Here is a little write-up I did for "Travel off the radar" Online
Magazine.
The Hood River Sandbar clean-up was a lot of fun. A lot of logs and
debris was moved out and I was amazed at the teamwork that manifested.
Lots of great people from all over the NorthWest came out and it was super
fun. The BBQ went off great with tasty burgers and dogs. Free keg of Ful
Sail Amber ale for all the hard workers. (Sponsored by Naish)
Now it's time for the TREW crew after party at the "Horse & Hound" brew
pub....where yet agian a Free keg awaits. These kiters in the gorge sure
know how to PARTY!!! I'll try to get some pics posted up soon.
Take care y'allz

The 1st Annual SPI Kite board
Round-up was absolutely amazing with over ten days of competitions, Gear
Demo’s and Clinic’s. The Long jump contest sponsored by Aboards kite
boarding turned out to be a highlight and a great way to start the event.
Many people we’re jumping well over 25-30ft. in the air as the winds picked
up to 35-40knts by mid-day.
Gary Rhodes Made the longest jump of the weekend traveling a distance well
beyond 100 ft in the air. It was a close heat as many competitors gave it
their all to beat the longest record. I took some pretty heavy crashes and
was awarded with “Biggest Wipe-out”. It was a very impressive competition
and left many spectators in awe of what kind of jumping you can do with a
kite.
The
following days we’re every kiteboarder’s dream. We experienced good wind
every single day with up to 90 deg. weather. The amount of stoke was amazing
and with wonderful people on the beach and in the town. It became a morning
ritual to do early down winders, then scoot off to the event site for each
day’s main event. This was the one of the biggest amateur events of the year
and the People at Air Padre Kite boarding & XL kites did a very great job.
I’m looking forward to returning to this event every year.
